Privacy

We don't send your data to any 3rd parties. Here's what data is used, when, what for and why.

Browsing this website

  • Browsers send data on every page request to every website.
    • Notably, this includes your IP address and your browser's "user agent". These are temporarily logged and automatically deleted. The user agent identifies things like your operating system and browser. If you followed a link from an external website to get here, your browser may have sent that URL, or part of it, too.
    • You can hide your IP by using a VPN. You can install browser extensions to spoof/hide your user agent. 3rd party sites linking to this site can do so in a way to hide the referrer URL.
  • Cookies etc.
    • A session cookie called is used to make the site work. It expires when you close the tab.
    • LocalStorage is used to remember if you choose to opt-out of anonymous statistics.
  • Anonymous statistics.
    • We use self-hosted, privacy focussed statistics. This is so we can monitor aggregate info on how the site is used. No information goes to 3rd parties, no personally identifiable information (e.g. IP address) is stored.
    • If you don't want to add to this anonymous data, we can honour that.

Comments

All data that you choose to provide is encrypted before it is sent over the internet. The comment form explains what is shown (after moderation) on the public website. Your email address is stored with your comment but is not on the public website. If you want us to delete a comment you've made (or all comments), please contact us and we'll get right on it.

Contacting Artful Robot

If you choose to use the contact form, the data you chose to give is encrypted before it is sent. I will then use that for the sake of replying to you, where a reply is needed. Basically this works similarly as if you had emailed me directly. Any system storing your data will be protected against theft, alteration etc. Should you wish to remove, correct or check any data you have sent, please just get in touch.

If you phone me, data you provide will be stored in my brain's memory for a while. It is not kept as long as it used to be. I hope the GDPR is happy with that. More seriously, I may keep a secure record of our call and your contact details so that I can follow up with you. We do not pass your data on to anyone else (unless you specifically ask us to)
